England Forever!

So England won 1-0, and yes Schrecky, England didn't play at their best. They did however, play well as a team, and gave a respectable performance, in my opinion. The first game is always difficult for the bigger teams, and we can't forget to take into account the high temperatures which slowed the England team down. A special mention must be given to the Mexican referee who undisputedly took Paraguay's side on an unrealistic majority of decisions. Nevertheless, our boys done good.
This is the England goal. (Just thought it was a good photo.)

This is David Beckham, the England captain, who gave a cracking performance...

...and here is an England fan, sporting St George's Crosses to cover his hairy nips.

In other news, the USA put up a dissapointing struggle against the Czech Republic today, losing 3-0, the biggest defeat in the World Cup so far. I think they will have to beat Italy to qualify for the second round, which seems unlikely after today's performance.

i was incredibly sad to hear about the US loss... I was wicked mad when I heard the result on the radio before they aired the game- so I didnt even bother watching cuz I already knew the results...

so, I am just going to be honest because I don't think there was anything respectable about the way England played. You guys got lucky. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for them the whole way! USA... disgraceful... but on the bright side, guess who put Poland in their place!??? Viva Ecuador!!!!

hmmmm... it has to be said that i think we would stand more chance of winning the world cup with a swede (of the large yellow root variety) in charge instead of the swede (of the scandinavian varity)... why oh why does he play gerrard in defensive mid???

message to the swede (big yellow scandinavian variety): get over yourself and drop beckham or lampard so gerrard can go forward or i may have to kill you!!

it has to be said the czech rep were pretty damn good... rosicky was outstanding - not looking forward to him playing for the arsenal... :s USA were not up to much tho i relly liked that kid johnson, he looks like a great prospect!

I agree with Chelsea that England were a bit lucky in their first game but they totally deserved to win their game today. Like Mike said, when Steven Gerrard attacks things get dangerous. He and Crouch (both Liverpool players (YEAH!!)) scored ofcourse :)

I was watching a discussion about the USA team and about their performance against the Czech and they only said positive things about that young Johnson you mentioned Mike.
